Allium sativum, commonly known as garlic, is a species in the onion genus, Allium.Its
close relatives include the onion, shallot, leek, chive, and rakkyo.With a history of
human use of over 7,000 years, garlic is native to central Asia, and has long been a
staple in the Mediterranean region, as well as a frequent seasoning in Asia, Africa,
and Europe. It was known to Ancient Egyptians, and has been used for both culinary
and medicinal purposes.The world’s largest producer of garlic is china after that India
is the second largest producer of garlic. Garlic is small in size but have many big uses
in Indian kitchen or we can say that with out garlic the Indian traditional recipe is incomplete
There are many uses of garlic some of them are as follows:
1.Garlic is widely used around the world for its pungent flavor as a seasoning or
condiment.
2.The leaves and flowers (bulbils) on the head (spathe) are sometimes eaten.
3.Garlic is used as flavoring agent in many of recipes.
4.It helps in keeping the stomach healthy and keeps body fit.
5.It also help in increasing the eye sight.
